Megan Young is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Health & Society, along with a minor in Biological Sciences, from Southern Methodist University. She went on to receive her master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she was awarded the 2019 Professional Promise Award by the Graduate Studies Committee in recognition of her academic excellence and service throughout her graduate level education.

Megan's clinical training includes working in community mental health at Momentous Institute, where she supported children and families through individual counseling, family therapy, and experiential group therapy. She later expanded her clinical expertise within the private practice setting, providing therapeutic and executive functioning services, co-leading process, social skills, and executive functioning groups, facilitating social-emotional learning within school settings, and conducting psychoeducational assessments.

In her current clinical work, Megan is passionate about supporting children and adolescents in strengthening emotional regulation, communication, and problem-solving skills. She works with a range of presenting concerns, including anxiety, attention-related challenges, behavioral and social difficulties, and grief-related concerns. Megan aims to integrate client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness approaches with developmentally appropriate experiential and play-based techniques to foster self-awareness and build effective coping strategies. She also values a strong, collaborative partnership with parents, schools, and other treatment professionals as a beneficial component of the therapeutic process. In addition to her therapeutic work, Megan continues to specialize in the assessment and diagnosis of learning, attention-related, emotional, and behavioral disorders, particularly in children and adolescents.

Outside of her professional life, Megan enjoys practicing pilates, working on creative design projects, and cheering on the SMU Mustangs and Texas Rangers. She also loves spending time with her micro-mini goldendoodle, Maverick, and is proud to be among the top 0.1% of Taylor Swift listeners on Spotify!
